2 outs in the bottom of the ninth.....

Barry Bonds has not played all game. Emily and I are sitting on the left field line. As the inning unfolds before me I am hoping that Bonds will soon pop out of the dugout and head to the on-deck circle to loosen up. And then like a scene out of a movie it happens. Out steps this gigantic man with his little bat resting on his shoulder. The crowd goes NUTS!!! My heart starts to beat just a little faster. Still two outs....he might not get to the plate. Then a slow grounder hit to third (shoot it is over), but to my amazement the third baseman throws the ball away and reaches safely to first. Holy crap! Can this be happening. Giants down 4-7, in the bottom of the ninth with 2 on, and Bonds coming to the plate. I think to myself, surely they will walk him. But to my amazement again, they are going to pitch to him. Holy Holy crap!!! Then it happened......My heart almost came out of my chest, when the ball collides with his bat.

This is how our trip to San Francisco was started. Magic...Amazing...

Emily and I had a wonderful time touring the city and surrounding areas. We saw a lot of different places and people. I was warned about the homelessness that seemed so prevalent in the city and was reminded everytime we stepped outside our hotel. Emily and I felt such a burden for those people. Most of them invisible to the people passing them by. We gave our money, bought some dinner and talked to many, but it never seemed like enough. I was reminded by one guy screaming in the streets, of the demon possessed man that lived in the cemetary. Jesus had compassion on these people...healed them....talked to them....changed their lives. I just want to do the same.

It is good to be home....Just found out we are having a baby boy!! Life is good.

Nice blog Adam. I often wonder what the "solution" to those in homelessness is and what should be the Christian response to the homeless. I always battle with the question of what is helping the homeless, and what is enabling them. -Still don't have an answer. It is definitely a "God-sized" problem. By the way, congratulations on the Adam Jr. as well!

Thanks Kyle. We are excited to have a new addition to our family. We will definitely have a full house when this little one gets here.

Jesus has said that the poor will always be among us. I am coming to the realization that maybe throwing money at every homeless person is not the best thing, but spending time and talking/listening to them might be. This of course requires more of us than putting a couple of nickles in a cup. So instead of giving money, why not invite them over for dinner.....this way we are may be enabling them, but we get to tell them about Christ.
